9th October 2013

It's been a long time since I've posted anything here and apologies for that. So - what have I been doing to distract me? Moving half way round the world of course !! Back in June we watched the packers come in, pack all our possessions including my craft room of course, into a container. It was duly shipped around the world to Melbourne, Australia.

We got here a little faster than the container, arriving 3 weeks ahead of it in time to find a new home. We are now unpacked and settled, with a couple of minor distractions. We have set up a craft business with our daughter and it's been all go and in the midst of all that excitement she also got married, so we have had the most wonderful wedding to enjoy as well including all the excitement and planning leading up to the big day.

As part of our business, we've already had a stand at two shows including Paperific, which is a 'biggie' here in Melbourne. This weekend we are going to be at the Picture to Page Show and so looking forward to showing people some of our favourite products.

We are big fans of the Paper Artsy range and stock a good supply of their fantastic Fresco Finish Paints which come in 3 opacities. Such a joy to use, quick drying and the finish is gorgeous. Lots of yummy colours and we also have the new colours which have just been released.

We have lots of other goodies too - to much to talk about here, but take a peep at our website at www.CraftersCupboard.com.au to get an idea of what we have been doing.

In the midst of all of this, I've managed to keep up with my card making and also ventured into the altered art/mixed media space. Here's a couple of photos of some of the things I've been up to:

A canvas that took on a mind of it's own. I had lots of fun playing with Grunge Paste, Dyes, Ink, Treasure Gold and lots of other goodies mixed with flower & metal to get this end result.

I just loved doing this tag - think it was the Blue & Brown colour scheme, one of my favourites. Played with lots of paint, ink, metal, flowers, stamped tissue, grunge paste - all sorts ! Doing a workshop on this tag in a few weeks.
I'm back into blog land now and determined to keep my posts up on a more regular basis. Hope you've enjoyed this latest peep into my world. See you soon

Saturated Canary Challenge

Hello All

I'm cutting it fine today with my entry in the latest Saturated Canary Challenge. It was an interesting one this time, with an unusual colour combo and I struggled a bit with it. The first card I made was no where near anything like the colours suggested in the challenge, so I got stuck in and made another one - and here she is (although I'm not sure I've stuck to the combo this time round either) !

Stamp: Saturated Canary 'Thank you'
Coloured with Copics
I've used the new La La Land Banner Die and doubled it up to get the
double layer effect, using the punched out hearts from the underneath to
fill the gaps. The embellishments are from my stash and DP's a mix of various
that I have had for some time. I've used a Martha Stewart punch for the border.
Apologies for not listing all the 'ingredients' - we are packing up now for our
big move 'down under', so things are a little disorganised in the craft room
as I focus on getting ahead on cards and using 'stash' items so we don't have to
ship them.

A little peek of the inside, decorated to match the theme of the card

I hope you are all having a good week, and thank you for popping by to look at my card - not quite my usual colour choices, but I did have fun making her.

Tag Card for a Baby

Hello

It's been another one of those 'damp' days here in Manchester.

The days seem to be flying by at the moment and it's been a busy week for making cards for new babies and for birthdays in the family.

My card today is a 'Tag Card', made for a friends new baby boy. I enjoy making Tag Cards - they are quick and fun to do. This one has the cutest little baby image on it from Whimsy stamps which I have coloured up with my Copics.

I've used the Tim Holtz Alterations Sissix Small Easel Die to provide a 'stand' for the card. Hope you like it !

That's all from me today - we are in the middle of 'sorting & sifting' and throwing out lots of rubbish in preparation for our pending house move. I got brave today and started to tackle my craft room !! Oooh - did I find things I forgot I even had, but I guess I'm not the only crafter with that problem. Have a good week everyone, and thanks for popping by

I've finally done it - got cracking with a blog ! I've been meaning to do this for such a long time and it's definately a new challenge. The key driver for finally getting my blog set up is a new change that is coming in my life. I've leaving a great job, working for a great company with wonderful people to move to the opposite side of the world - Australia. I'm looking for a new challenge and fingers crossed it will include something to do with craft, especially card making and scrapbooking.

So, here is my first card that I have made today. It is also going to be featured on a new online craft store that is being developed. The image today is a Saturated Canary digi stamp, 'Easter Dress'. Isn't she just gorgeous?

I've coloured her with my Copics - I hope you like her.
